How do movie theaters make money?
Q. Someone told me that movie theaters make all their money on concessions sales? Do they get a percentage of ticket sales at all? Do they pay a fee for the rights to show a movie? How does it work?

A. They pay a fee for the use of the movie, they pay building fees, they pay officer payroll and employee payroll along with standard bills. They make income on the ads you see before a film, a small percent of ticket sales and a rediculous amount from concessions and game room sales.

What could be done to improve movie theaters and the experience of the customer?
Q. I'm looking into one day possibly owning a movie theatre, and I'd just like some input from avid movie-goers about what they want from a cinema. What's awesome, what needs change, what could be added, etc. I appreciate it!

A. First is to make the seats comfortable: they are hard, some don't tilt(tiltings the best). If possible most people put there dirty feet up on the seat in front of them(ew my head rest there). What would be nice is something collapsible(that would pop back to a normal state when done) that you could rest your feet on- in between the walkway and the seat in front of you. Or a collapsible table off the back of the chair in front of you(like in airplanes). There nothing more annoying then trying to hold your nachos in one hand while your reach for your drink with the other. Bring back Mommy days! Where im from, there were mommy movie days there were earlier morning times designated just for moms and babies- so we don't have to stay home… [cont.]
